Marine Corps War Memorial (Original Painting)

It's the morning of February 19th, 1945. A handful of United States Marines start the tortuous climb to the top of Mount Suribachi with one mission, to raise the American flag. Five men pushing together the flagpole into the rocky terrain is amongst the most iconic images in American memory.

This famous sight of the flag raising was brought to life through the Marine Corps War Memorial, where the flag soars endlessly on a 60-foot-tall flagpole.
